Cabinet Construction

The raw material

Cabinet Artistry bespoke doors are made from carefully sourced from well managed, sustainable forests.

We produce our cabinets from veneered oak over MDF, a rich warm walnut veneer over MDF, birch ply or oak vaneer over birch ply, depending on what finish and specification you require for the cabinets.

Cabinets can also be made from MFC (melamine Faced Chipboard) with a choice of 200 different colours and wood grain. This is a very tough and durable easy to wipe clean material. Marginally more cost effective than the real veneer cabinetry.

Painted options

In order to give you the ultimate flexibility over costs we have several options when it comes to paint and paint finish.
  • Raw un finished- ready for priming and painting.
  • Primed-2 coats-ready to paint.
  • Primed-2 coats- de nibbed- hand sprayed with 2 top coats.
  • Primed-2 coats- de nibbed- hand sprayed-2 coats- final brush coat.
We use a 2 part paint system with a matte / sheen (intelligent egg shell) from
The Little Greene Paint Company. Colour matched Farrow & Ball again in a tough 2 part paint mix matte/sheen finish instead of a water based emulation or any RAL colour.

Door and drawer fronts

Timber shaker doors
  • Mortice and tenon 5 piece doors
  • Hardwood frame
  • Notched out traditional butt hinges which ensure your door will never fall out of line.
MDF doors  (In-frame Linear or doors with Blum hinges instead of Butt hinges) if a totally flat finish is required. Oak or Tulip wood veneer if a wooden detail is required.
  • Drawers are either oak or walnut dove tail construction. All on soft close drawer runners which can support 35kg.
  • Fingerjointed drawers are used for our 'something completely different' range.
  • Optional more economical metal sided drawer boxes are available.

construction of cabinets

Cabinets are glued and dowelled together, compressed in a squaring press while the glue goes off, ensuring all our cabinets leave the factory totally square and rigid.
We only use cam and dowel construction (self build flat pack style) if access for large awkward sized cabinets is an issue.
